Few introductions in cinema are as instantly recognisable. Alongside the tuxedo and the unmistakable Bond theme song, another detail has quietly become part of 007's identity: the Omega Seamaster. Since 1995, Bond has worn an Omega on every mission. Across nine films, one video game and three decades of adventures, the Seamaster has remained a constant companion on his wrist. What began as a thoughtful costume decision has evolved into one of the longest and most successful partnerships in cinematic history.

How Seamaster Started It All
1995 — GoldenEye
The Beginning of a New Era
Today, it's almost impossible to imagine James Bond wearing anything other than an Omega. But before GoldenEye premiered in 1995, that partnership simply didn't exist. Everything changed during the film's production, when Oscar-winning costume designer Lindy Hemming was responsible for redefining Bond. Looking to Bond's background as a Commander in the Royal Navy, Hemming later explained:
"I was convinced that Commander Bond, a naval man, a diver and a discreet gentleman of the world would wear the Seamaster with the blue dial."
The choice proved to be a perfect fit. When Pierce Brosnan made his debut as James Bond in GoldenEye, the Omega Seamaster Professional 300M Quartz also made its first appearance on 007's wrist. More than just Bond's new timepiece, it quickly became one of Q's ingenious gadgets, complete with a built-in laser that played its part during the mission.
Interestingly, Bond's very first Omega was powered by a quartz movement—a choice that reflected the reliability and precision expected from a modern military-inspired tool watch in the mid-1990s. More importantly, it introduced an entirely new generation of moviegoers to the Seamaster collection and forever changed the public perception of the watch. Few could have predicted that this decision would spark one of cinema's longest-running partnerships.

1997 — Tomorrow Never Dies
The Seamaster Goes Automatic
Bond's second Omega was the Seamaster Professional 300M Automatic, replacing quartz with a mechanical movement. Of course, Q couldn't resist adding his own touch. This time, the watch concealed a remote detonator capable of triggering explosives from a safe distance: just another day at MI6. Behind the cinematic gadgets, however, the Seamaster itself was becoming increasingly admired for its combination of everyday versatility, robust engineering and impeccable design.
2006 — Casino Royale
A New Bond, A Familiar Companion
The face of 007 had changed, but his trusted companion remained the same.
When Daniel Craig took over the role, Bond underwent his biggest reinvention in decades. More physical, more grounded and less reliant on gadgets, Craig's portrayal introduced a tougher, more modern interpretation of Britain's most famous spy. For the first time, Bond wore two Omega models throughout the film: the familiar Seamaster Diver 300M Co-Axial and the larger, more rugged Planet Ocean 600M Co-Axial. Whether trying to outsmart Le Chiffre across the poker table in Montenegro or chasing bomb-makers through the streets of Madagascar, the Seamaster proved it was ready for every move.
2012 — Skyfall
An Established Character
By the time Skyfall reached cinemas, Omega and James Bond no longer needed an introduction. The Seamaster had become inseparable from the character himself.
Released during the 50th anniversary of the James Bond franchise, Skyfall marked a defining moment for both Bond and Omega. No longer the "new" Bond watch, the Seamaster had earned its place as part of 007's identity. It remained a constant reminder that some teamwork only grow stronger with time.
2015 — Spectre
The One You Could Finally Own
With Spectre, Omega achieved another first. The Seamaster 300 "Spectre" Limited Edition became the first James Bond watch worn on screen to be made available for purchase.
Limited to 7,007 pieces worldwide, it gave collectors the rare opportunity to own the very same watch seen on Daniel Craig's wrist in the film. It was truly a milestone that brought the world of 007 closer to enthusiasts than ever before.
2021 — No Time To Die
Designed with Bond Himself
After more than 15 years as 007, Daniel Craig helped shape his own watch.
Unlike previous films, Craig collaborated with Omega to create a Seamaster that felt true to the character's military background. As he later explained, "We decided that a lightweight watch would be key for a military man like 007." The result was the Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition, crafted from lightweight titanium and distinguished by its vintage-inspired details. Its tropical brown aluminium dial and bezel, aged Super-LumiNova and mesh bracelet drew inspiration from military-issued timepieces, subtly echoing Bond's Royal Navy roots.
On screen, Bond wore the 007 Edition throughout his mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist, while fellow characters Nomi and Moneypenny each wore their own Omega timepieces, further cementing the brand's place within the world of 007. Today, the No Time To Die Seamaster is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive modern Bond watches ever produced.
2026 — 007 First Light
The Next Generation of Bond
The story doesn't end with the films.
Thirty years after GoldenEye, James Bond and Omega continue their journey with 007 First Light, the first original James Bond video game to explore the early days of a young Bond before he earns his legendary 00 status. Naturally, no Bond adventure would be complete without an Omega. The game introduces the first-ever Seamaster 300M Chronograph to be worn by 007, marking yet another milestone that continues to evolve with each new chapter.
What began with Lindy Hemming’s costume choice in 1995 has become an enduring part of Bond’s screen identity. More than three decades, nine films and a new video-game chapter later, the Seamaster remains a constant in the world of 007.
